We specialize in helping individuals and families navigate the vaccine requirements needed when applying for a U.S. immigrant visa or legal permanent residence (green cards) for the United States.
If you’re applying for an immigrant visa, there are certain health-related requirements needed as part of your application process. One of these is to show proof of vaccination against specific diseases, as outlined by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

Required vaccines for US immigration
Under the immigration laws of the United States, anyone applying for a U.S. immigrant visa or green card is required to receive vaccinations for the following diseases
- Mumps;
- Measles;
- Rubella;
- Polio;
- Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids;
- Pertussis;
- Haemophilus influenzae type B;
- Hepatitis B;
- Any other vaccine-preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP).
Who conducts the medical exam?
If you’re applying from outside the U.S, your required medical exam will be conducted by a panel physician authorized by the U.S. Department of State, with approved doctors listed by country on their website

Vaccine Exemptions
There are instances where you may be granted an exemption or waiver relating to vaccines. These can sometimes be offered to those who are unable to receive the required vaccinations due to medical, religious, or moral beliefs. You can see more about vaccine exemptions and waivers on our dedicated page.
Process for Meeting Vaccine Requirements
Schedule your immigration medical exam
Once you receive instructions from the National Visa Center or your U.S. embassy, you’ll need to schedule a medical exam with an authorised panel physician in your country.
Gather your vaccination records
Bring any vaccination records you have to your appointment. As these help the panel physician determine which vaccines you require.
Attending your exam
The approved panel physician reviews your vaccination history, conducts any required health checks, and administers missing vaccines.
Receiving your medical report
After your exam, your panel physician will complete Form DS-3025 showing your vaccination compliance. This report is submitted directly to the embassy or given to you in a sealed envelope for your visa interview.
Submit with your visa application
The results of your medical exam, including your vaccination record, will be reviewed as part of your immigrant visa application.
