Success Story: Approval of N-600K with Only 2 Weeks to Spare

Our client, age 17 (at time of filing), sought out our firm’s help with filing Form N-600K. Form N-600K is a USCIS application used by U.S. citizen parents/legal guardians to obtain citizenship for their children born and residing abroad. It is specifically for children under 18 who do not automatically acquire citizenship and requires a U.S. citizen legal guardian to meet physical presence requirements in the United States. In most cases the N-600k is filed for children by their U.S. grandparents whose U.S. parents are deceased or they do not meet the residency requirements of living in the U.S.. This specific document is only for children under 18, in our client’s case she applied with just two and a half months till her 18th birthday. Blue Lake Law managed to work with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Field Office in Phoenix, AZ. They were very helpful, and our firm was able to get the field office to adjudicate the case in just one month. The N-600K form can take anywhere from two months to a year to get approved. The USCIS field office scheduled our client’s in-person interview just two weeks out from her 18th birthday. At the interview her application for a Certificate of Citizenship was approved on the spot, just in time! This is a huge success for our client and our firm!
