Success Story: DCF of a Form I-130 through the US Embassy in Madrid
Our client, a US citizen living in Spain, got married to a Spanish national while living there. They received an imminent job offer back in the states, meaning they had to quickly relocate. Wanting to move with their partner, but not having enough time for proper immigration proceedings, Blue Lake Law requested a Direct Consular Filing of the Form I-130, Petition for an Alien Relative, with the US Embassy in Madrid. DCFs are available for US citizens living abroad in qualifying cases; immediate relocation can qualify for a DCF. In Spain, DCF is available only in exceptional circumstances, and approval of a DCF request is entirely at the discretion of the Consular Section in the US Embassy in Madrid. Our firm’s communication with the US Embassy in Madrid was able to approve our client’s request, resulting in an approved I-130 petition. Our client and their partner are on their way to happily living in the US together, our firm wishes them all the best!
