Success Story: Record-Time Approval of an I-130 Petition Through Direct Consular Filing in London

Our client, a child of a U.S./UK dual national, needed an expedited I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, to move to the U.S. with their mother. Our client’s mother had a short notice job change that forced her to relocate to the U.S.. Our firm was able to request an expedited I-130 form through Direct Consular Filing (DCF) with the U.S. Embassy in London.

Direct Consular Filing is an expedited process through which a U.S. citizen living overseas can petition the government for an immigrant visa for their immediate relatives. Instead of sending an I-130 petition back to the United States, the citizen sends it to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the country where they are residing. A U.S. citizen petitioner living and working abroad who has received a job offer in or reassignment to the United States with little notice for the required start date is recognised as an exceptional circumstance that allows DCF to be used.

The U.S. Embassy in London accepted the DCF request for our client, and just 10 days after filing the initial I-130 petition, the immigrant visa was issued. This is a new record for Blue Lake Law. Until now we have not gotten an approval this quick! We want to extend a huge congrats to our client and their mother, who are now happily living and working in the U.S..

At Blue Lake Law, we have experience guiding clients through the DCF process at the U.S. Embassy in London. If you’re facing an emergency relocation, we understand how critical speed and precision are to your case.

We’ll help you determine your eligibility, gather the required documentation, and navigate the fee payment process, ensuring that your petition is submitted correctly and efficiently.
