Blanket Waiver

A Blanket Waiver serves as a medical exemption for required immigration vaccines, documented directly during your immigration medical examination. 

It is possible when the vaccine might not be medically appropriate due to age or other medical complications or contraindications, or when the vaccine is not available during your examination period.

Individual Waiver

Vaccine waivers grounded in moral convictions or religious beliefs against vaccination are available under Form I-601. Their approval is based on specific criteria:

  • A sincere and categorical opposition to all forms of vaccination is required. Selective acceptance of certain vaccines does not suffice for moral waiver eligibility.
  • The sincerity of religious or moral objections to vaccines must be substantiated through detailed personal declarations and corroborating evidence.
  • Affiliation with a particular religious group or congregation is not obligatory for waiver qualification, and each case is evaluated individually.

What is a Vaccine Exemption?

A U.S. immigration vaccine exemption refers to an authorized waiver granted to individuals who are unable to receive required vaccinations due to medical reasons or deeply held religious or philosophical beliefs. 

This exemption allows them to bypass mandatory vaccination requirements when applying for immigration benefits such as adjustment of status or US immigrant visa applications. This means that it is possible to receive a green card without being vaccinated if successful with a vaccine waiver application.
